"Vascular Surgery Outpatients Appointment"

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was concerned about the circulation in my right leg after losing my left leg to an infection in 2010.

The initial appointment took some time to come through but after that I was seen by the consultant who arranged for a circulation scan at RAEI Wigan with a follow up appointment the same week.

Although it was a different consultant (which isn't what I call continuity of service) I was given the results and reassured that all was well with my leg considering my previous medical history.

The overall feeling was of a well run department within the hospital, however as I am sure other patients have found the car parking is expensive considering that you have to pay for 2 hours even if you are only there for a short period.

Thank you for your posting regarding your attendances to RAEI. I note your comment regarding the continuity of service in respect of a different consultant and will pass this on to the Division of Surgery for their information. However, it is pleasing to note that overall your feeling was of a well run department. With regard to the car parking charges, it may be helpful to explain that this is the first increase in charges since 2009, and this decision was taken following a comparison of charges with other NHS Trusts locally.

Kind regards
