"experience of services in Shropshire and Somerset "

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat Royal Shrewsbury Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

Back in March 2013 I was referred to clinic two outpatients for a throat condition by my GP. Since that date I have moved house in July (GP informed) to Somerset.

Again referred by my new GP to Musgrove Hospital, Taunton. It is now Oct 1st 2013 and I have visited three specialists areas, samples, ultrasound and scopes used, and a conclusion to my problem.

How great is the service given by Musgrove Park and how fortunate I am to releive a great deal of stress in this short time in Somerset.

Oct 2013 I have just received an appointment for Shrewsbury Hospital for November.

And how poor in comparison the service I received is between Shropshire and what has been given in Somerset. I think some thing should be learned by this, of how services can be so different from the NHS in stressful times

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback, particularly as you have now moved away from Shropshire. One of the biggest problems facing our patients is the time spent waiting for appointments (and, as a result of this, sometimes there can be confusion by receiving multiple letters). We are working hard inside the hospital and with GP commissioners and other colleagues to bring down waiting times and improve our systems, and this is a salutary reminder about how well it is working in other areas compared to here in Shropshire.
