About: St Helier Hospital

Anything else?

My terminally ill elderly godfather spent 15 days in St Helier hospital during August 2013. On arrival he was in very poor condition. However, during his stay every effort was made to make him as comfortable as possible. He was a patient on Ward B3 and throughout was treated with dignity and respect. Enormous work was done to improve his bed sores which were awful on arrival at hospital. The hospital went to great lengths to ensure that a high level care package was in place before he returned home. His wish was to die in his own home and he achieved this. He was a bachelor who lived by himself and the care package ensured that he was visited regularly throughout the day and was kept as comfortable as possible. Without the hard work put in by all members of staff on B3 he would not have achieved a dignified and peaceful death in his own home. Thank you to everyone who was involved in his care.

May we first say we are sorry for your loss but pleased we were able to offer a high level of care and that your godfather was able to return home as he wished. We hope this offered some comfort to you. Our staff try their very best to offer a high level of care to patients with respect and dignity and we will ensure all the staff on B3 are made aware of your kind feedback.
