It started having returned from my grandads funeral. On getting home my step dad was not well. Short of breath and temperature. I called 999 as he was just n0t himself and had previously received a home visit from a doctor and confirmed a chest infection.
The paramedic was amazing and said he was not very well and had to go to hospital he was borderline septic. The paramedic was alone and had to call for backup driver, so he could keep providing the care to my step dad.
On arriving at the hospital the staff were there ready to assist. Friendly and caring. And most of all supportive. They diagnosed a type of pneumonia and started treatment immediately. It was touch and go. Yeah more minutes he would not have survived.
The latest is my step dad is amazingly better than before. He has moved from Resus to ITU and now on HDU ward waiting to move to another ward. The professionalism of the staff cannot be faulted. The buildings cleanliness spot perfect.
I recommend Queens hospital to everyone. I feel it has changed and they do provide a great service. I don't think the shortage of staff is their fault but because of cuts to the services.
