"Broken bone or not!"
About: Solihull Hospital Solihull Hospital Solihull B91 2JL
Two days after going over on my right ankle one evening, I took myself of to Solihull Hospital intending to go to the 'walk in centre'. Not being able to walk that far from the car park I went in to A&E instead. (A lady who came in behind me had been sent from the Walk in Centre because they were not taking anymore patient). A&E was showing a 4 hr. wait. I stayed. The receptionist could not get me name right even though I spelt it for her twice. I was called just after 2 hrs. I explained what I had done and why I was there. I was ex-rayed quickly and seen quickly after that and told it was broken. After a short wait I had a plaster cast put on by a very nice nurse. (a back slabe I think it was called). My ankle was very swollen but unusually not black and blue. I was sent on my was with two information booklets after I was shown how to use a pair of crutches. I was told I would hear from Heartlands Hospital with an appointment to replace the plaster with a normal one. This was on the evening of 27th August '13. Hearing nothing from Heartlands I phone them and they did give me my patients number. What happened on the phone with Heartlands Hospital is another story. Eventually I had to go to Heartlands because I was loosing bits of plaster all over the place and because it was very loose it was rubbing sores on my foot. They would not see me. I ended up in their A&E and after another 2 hr. wait a nurse saw me, took the plaster off and said it wasn't broke and sent me on my way again with the crutches. Four weeks on I have a constant ache in my ankle. I phoned Solihull today got switched through to 4/5 different area's I asked what bone was broken (fibula) mentioned Heartlands and what they said and now it's not broken. Who do I believe. My ankle is very uncomfortable and a pig by evening.
