"Poor quality nursing care and support"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

Anything else?

Admitted to AMU Ward following referral from A&E. Because it was a suspected heart attack, A & E were excellent. However, on the ward, I was too late to have any food despite not having eaten all day. Staff were brusqe and communicated poorly if at all. Night nursing staff chatted socially in the corridor all night keeping patient awake. The toast for breakfast was served by hand - bare hands that had touched other patients and their beds. Infection control seemed to have gone out of the window, When I was discharged, I had to ask for a wheelchair since I am severely disabled and my elderly wife was left to push me.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We're pleased to hear how positive your experience was in A&E, but it is disappointing that this was not maintained. We will ensure that your feedback regarding AMU is shared with the team so that they can improve both communication and also reduce the avoidable noise at night.
