"My mother was admitted with a stroke"

Anything else?

My mother suffered a stroke on 27.3.13 and was brought in by ambulance at around 5.00pm. She was taken straight to resus where the staff treated her as an inconvenience. The Stroke Consultant came to see her in resus as there was no bed available in the Stroke Unit and an MRI scan and several tests were done. After being on a trolley for 3 hours she was taken to the Stroke Unit and put in a single room. The family left at around 10.00 and we asked to be contacted if there was any deterioration. We arrived the next day at 1.30 and found she was in a coma. The nurse said she stopped responding at about 8 am that morning and we were not contacted. At around 4.30 after lots of badgering by myself a doctor came and told us there was nothing that could be done and she passed away the following morning. The information that we received was non existent and the staff could not have cared less. There were dirty paper towels dropped on the floor in the walkway and a needle had been dropped and left. I was absoutely disgusted.
