"so dirty and food awful and left with no bath for..."

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

Anything else?

My mother in law is 70 she s on a ward with dirty floors and bedding... This hospital s in special measures. Cleanliness in a number 1 priority, get it sorted.... Pronto!!. She has not had a bath in days, and tests are promised by one staff member and others know nothing about it. Communication from top to bottom and from bottom to top is terrible with mixed messages all the time. The phone is left to ring whilst staff chat which is noisy and relatives can't find out About their family!!

We are really sorry that our service has not met your mother in law’s needs. We strive hard to ensure cleanliness is of a high standard at all times. We adhere to national standards of cleanliness, regularly audit these with our Matrons, Infection Prevention Matrons and domestic service staff and our Matrons are on the wards daily. Our linen service is “in house” which means we can have a more responsive service to meet our clinical needs. Unfortunately you have not highlighted the ward you had found issue with to allow us to immediately address this. We appreciate that this is a stressful time when your Mother in law is poorly but would urge you to contact the Ward Manager or Matron on the ward who will be happy to ensure your concerns are addressed and ensure that your family is kept up to date with her care.
