About: Milton Keynes Hospital

Anything else?

Arrived at a&e by ambulance on thursday 20/9/13 at 10.15 pm with my wife (67 years of age) who was suffering from severe chest pains, left a&e 4.0pm Friday 21/09/13. During this time I was constantly backward and forward to the nurses station for information. It seemed quite obvious that my wife was put in a corner bay and was forgotten about. A chalk board at the nurses station gives the patience name. If on this board the time of admittance was written perhaps somebody might think " what's happening here , they've been here a long time". Seems a quick answer to the time problem. Individually the staff were great until they left the bedside then it became a case of being too busy. As a result, the blood test my wife should have had Friday at 11am didn't happen til 4pm. She ended up staying in the ambulatory care unit until it closed for the evening. Only to find out that she had amalayse levels of nearly 4000. Shame because if the test was done at 11am she might have got the care she needed earlier. Such a shame about staffing levels and that processes aren't slicker because the people who work there do really care.
