"Horrendous parking problems"

About: Palmer Community Hospital / General surgery

(as a carer),

I took my Mother who has Alzheimer's for a regular visit to Palmers Hospital in Jarrow.

The "Hospital" visit to the memory clinic was excellent as ever, although we were asked to attend 15 minutes for other "checks" which were not done.

However some of the wards have closed and large numbers of NHS staff put in place as a result the parking is swamped.

I always go early and it took 25 minutes of circling and 2 potential road rage incidents (one from a member of the Hospital staff who shouted out of her window "I don't know how to drive this car! ") before finally getting a space.

I would like to hear from the person who did this just how they thought it was going to work!

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments of your recent experience of our services at Palmer Community Hospital on the NHS Choices website. I apologise for the time it took for you to find a parking space and appreciate how this must have caused you stress and anxiety. We have developed Palmer Community Hospital as a hub centre for community services and a number of staff are now based there however we are currently reviewing parking spaces and will ensure your comments are passed on to the appropriate manager for consideration as part of the review. Kind regards Lorraine B Lambert Chief Executive
