About: Weston General Hospital

Anything else?

After 7 years of pain and several visits to GPs and consultants (not at Weston hospital) who told me I had nothing wrong with my hip I finally had a consultant appointment at Weston orthopaedic outpatients department. The consultant was excellent. After reviewing my medical history since birth I was told exactly what the problem was and treatment options available. We both agreed on the interim treatment before needing to have a hip replacement and I was told it could take at least 6 weeks for the next appointment. A few days later I was sent an appointment, which was 14 days after visiting the consultant, for a cortisone injection directly into the hip joint. The injection was completely painless. There was no guarantee that the injection would work but next day the pain in my hip had almost disappeared and I could walk almost normally. Obviously, each day is different but for the time being my life has been transformed by this treatment. Many thanks to Weston hospital and all concerned with my treatment.
