patient care is not top of the important list. My father was discharged to an ambulance crew with a fracture of neck femur. The ambulance crew were not told. he was also discharged with renal failure. He was 87 years old. The ambulance crew told me to report the ward for discharging dad firstly with renal failure ,and also for not informing them of the broken hip.he was later readmitted due to the fact he was not given food or water on his discharge and was left in this state for seven hours before getting home and then being re-admitted some eleven hours later. whereby by this time was suffering with an infection caused by urine retention and wasn't catheterized for over twelve hours..He was totally disorientated and was seen by a local doctor ...on his delivery home by the ambulance crew... before re-admission. The doctor thought that the hospital was digusting...also the pain relief was non existant....my father was readmitted on july 2nd 2013 and died 28 july 2013.....he received virtually no food whilst in hospital...it was written.."refused food"...he did not refuse.. he was not fully awake..all he had was his saline drip and painkillers...I was constantly asking about him not eating and told not to worry.I complained to the registrar about dads first discharge and they all agreed he should not have been discharged... I personally hold the hospital responsible for the condition my father had and his death....the hospital staff on ward 14b were responsible for the incorrect discharge of my father.which I informed the ward manager on 9b and was given a form to fill in to put in a complaint......I am now in writing a detailed report on his admission after his fall...and his treatment ...by Southport General Hospital Town Lane Southport. Lancs ... his treatment was catalogued daily. by myself which I will enclosed with my report to the necessary departments and authorities. Just to add insult to injury..my husband on his return to visit my father was insulted by one of the hospitals porters..because my husband did not move when ordered to by the porter.....the porter shouted and was verbally abusive to my husband..we were so taken aback we did not take the porters name. What a hospital. Take heed...Do not use this hospital.
"disgusting trust hospital that is Southport..."
