"Care and treatment was exceptional"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

My mother was taken unwell in early September. My mother's health deteriorated to the point where it became necessary to take her to the Emergency Department.

A member of the nursing team in ED was concerned that something was not quite right considering the amount of pain she was in, following some tests my mother was admitted to hospital for surgery.

My mother received exceptional care on both B2 and surgical HDU but despite all the care and attention of the staff she passed away a couple of weeks later.

As a family the staff were empathetic and allowed us to spend whatever time we wanted to with my mother which we will always be grateful of.

The staff always explained any treatment that was being given and kept us up to date with results, medication etc.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback about your mother’s treatment at our hospital at what I’m sure must be a very difficult time for you. We are pleased to hear that you were impressed by the care your mother received and that the staff you encountered were so understanding of your situation.

It is very important to us that patients and their relatives feel fully informed about every aspect of their treatment, so it is good to hear that you were kept up to date throughout your mother’s time with us.

Your lovely comments will be passed on to the Emergency Department, ward B2 and our surgical High Dependency Unit. I’m sure the teams involved in your mother’s care will be thrilled to receive your praise.
