"Visited the Urgent Care Centre"

About: Hemel Hempstead Hospital

Anything else?

I was at a Conference at Latimer Devere Venues and found myself experiencing shortness of breadth and cough and a heaviness in the chest.... I was sure it was an infection but not too sure whether I would be seen as it was not an "emergency..." I phoned up Hemel Hempstead Hospital and spoke to a very helpful receptionist who transferred my call to the Urgent Care Centre. The lady there was very polite and said I should come over and they would see me. I arrived there at 33.0pm and was promptly seen by the receptionist who explained that it would take time. I was more than happy to be seen as by now I was feeling a bit wheezy. At 5.05pm, I was seen by a GP who listened to my chest and checked my oxygen saturation. She advised that me I had an infection (atypical infection due to recent travel) She prescribed me antibiotics. She also advised what to do and how quickly they would work and what to do if I still felt poorly. I got the antibiotics from Boot chemist locally, directions given very helpfully by the receptionist (who also explained where to go to if Boots was shut) I took the medicine at 6pm and it has now been 4 hours since and the coughing has decreased. And feel like I am on the mend. Well done to the GP and the staff at the Urgent Care Centre. Truly remarkable..
