"Poor treatment for my father"

About: Montagu Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

Poor treatment for my father on Wentworth Ward, second rate care from nurses who should be retrained or got rid of.

Communication is very poor, feels more like a care home than medical ward.

We are really sorry to hear this but thank you for your feedback. Honest feedback like this helps us make adjustments where necessary to provide the highest standard of care. Wentworth Ward is a rehabilitation ward for patients who no longer need acute medical care but need further time recovering before they can leave hospital, so it does have a different feel from an acute medical ward. It's also about to undergo a major renovation so that the design and layout better support patients' rehabilitation.

However, the standard of care should be just as high as any other ward and we're sorry if this wasn't your experience. The team of nursing, therapy and medical staff work together to care for patients. There should of course be good communication between the whole team and with patients and families and we apologise if this didn’t happen.

We would be very keen to get further details of your father's experience so we can ensure that the issues are fully addressed, if you’d like to contact Matron Sarah Stovin on 01302 366666 ext 4020 or by email (our email format is firstname.lastname@dbh.nhs.uk).
