"Epi gastric hernia repair"

About: Colchester General Hospital

Anything else?

In May 2013, I had an epi gastric hernia repair. I had rather a long wait since GP referral (7 months), but once in the hospital, I felt very well cared for. The staff were courteous and new what they were doing. Everything was explained to me carefully , with time for me to ask any questions. The procedure was done, and in the recovery ward I also felt well cared for. I had the same nurse looking after me that I had pre-operatively, as she was working a split shift. This was very helpful. Post operatively, I was able to stay until I felt more awake, and after the Colchester rush hour. I had very little pain, and only needed 2 paracetamols during my entire recovery. I followed instructions to the T, and feel great! No pain, and the scar is neat, tidy and fading. Many thanks to the Consultant and the team! Felicity Wall (Mrs Deborah Felicity Wall)

Thanks for contacting Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust. It is always gratifying to read emails like yours and to know that the work of staff in the NHS is appreciated as I know it can be an effort to write at a time like this. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive. We have a quarterly At Our Best Awards scheme which recognises staff achievements and thanks them for what they do. It has a team category, an individual and a volunteer category.
