I have an extreme needle phobia, who wouldn't after having to have blood test from this hospital! If you want a simple blood test and this is the closest hospital, don't do it. Go out your way to get it done properly. I was clearly distressed. There is a particular nurse in this building. After shouting out to everyone she was using a baby needle on a grown woman and embarrassing me, she showed no compassion, sympathy or even knowledge of what she was doing. She inserted the needle 4 times, in and out, before realising she'd chosen the smallest vein possible. She then started with the larger vein, poking in and out and gripping my arm like a vice. Finally she did get it after 7 attempts, she took 3 viles of blood while wobbling the needle part that was still in my vein. She managed to rupture a blood vessel in my arm, resulting in a purple bruise the size of a tennis ball. Now I'm walking around with 7 clear puncture wounds and a very large bruise that stands out like a sore thumb. People are beginning to ask questions to whether I'm a junky or something. I have also heard of family and friends that have at the same incompetence from her. So if you ever read this madam, you seriously need to rethink your career and focus on your patients instead of mauling other nurses about your break time. Also if any collegues of this woman read this, I send my sincere sympathy.
