"Professional and caring"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

Anything else?

I am currently undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer at a London clinic. Between treatments, my wife and I decided to take a short break in Padstow to regenerate our batteries. I am 57 years old, have not smoked for over 25 years and ran the London Marathon in 2012. Part of my continual testing relates to the possibility that I can catch a bad infection during this time as my natural resistances are lower than normal with my white blood cells being killed off by my treatment. It is essential that I do not allow my temperature to go above normal as this can show such an infection. On the afternoon of 12th September, my temperature appeared to rise above acceptable levels. I spoke to the clinic in London and they requested that I have my bloods checked at A&E. the nearest facility was at The Royal Cornwall Hospital. My wife and I made our way there and were seen quickly by the Triage Nurse. We then got to see a Consultant who reviewed my situation. I had bloods taken and was further reviewed by the same doctor once the results were in. His caring attitude was a breath of fresh air and his commitment to sorting things out with my out of hours clinic was most welcome. Thank you.
