I am currently undergoing restorative dental treatment by one of the students students at the Royal Liverpool Dental Hospital. Having suffered considerably over the past 20 years with a number of difficult and embarrassing dental problems I became increasingly reluctant to seek treatment to address the problems but eventually plucked up the courage to visit the dental hospital, fill out the required application for treatment form, and awaited to see if I would be accepted Although it took a number of weeks before I heard from them (I was not an emergency case, I had just applied for dental assessment) an appointment eventually arrived and albeit with much trepidation, off I went for assessment Now it has to be said from the offset that I found all the staff that I encountered from the receptionists to the initial student who assessed me (didn’t catch her name), to be kind, considerate, understanding and non-judgemental. A huge relief as anyone who has had similar worries would understand Progress in my case is understandably slow as I am in need a fair amount or restorative work and appointments need to be arranged within the curriculum of the student term time. However I have found that this is one of the major benefits of the dental hospital. The treatment may be relatively slow as the students sometimes refer to the tutors for confirmation or assessment of their work or diagnosis. However, the consequence of this is that the hospital and staff invest more or less unlimited time in you to ensure that the treatment is undertaken properly and correctly. You are never ‘rushed out’ due to the next appointment for example as is the case in many dental practitioners To summarise, the treatment I am receiving by the wonderful student, her tutors and the nursing assistants could not be more kind considerate or professional. The staff are a credit to the hospital and I consider myself most fortunate to be undergoing treatment there J. Mason
