Although I have had a stoma for over 30 years I was unaware of the stoma prescription service until a recent spell in hospital.

I was given the details about the service in preparation for discharge from hospital and found the service to be helpful and efficient.

I know that there is someone to contact for help and advice.

Dear Rifles211, Thank you for your posting on Patient Opinion, we really appreciate your feedback on the Stoma Prescription Service and are pleased to hear that your experience of the service has been helpful and efficient.

The service is relatively new and after our initial pilot work involving two GP practices, groups of patients were registered to the service by GP Practice, between April and October 2012. Due to the volume of patients, some may have been missed on the initial wave of registration and so we apologise that you were not made aware of the service sooner.
