About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

Anything else?

I have been suffering with jaundice since July 2013. I am not a usually sickly person and having started a new job without sick pay, so I am struggling to take time off. For the few that are suffering with jaundice you will know that the itch that comes with it is unbearable. On top of that because it is stopping my stomach bile from digesting properly and i have had it for a long while now, I have developed chronic abdominal pain, that come on at least 4 times a day and can last up to 2 hours a time. I have visited my GPS a number of times to help me get treated, however although I was referred as an urgent appointment to Dewsbury district hospital, I have been told it is a 4-6 week wait before I get the MRI scan I need to diagnose the issue. As a formally healthy person I am now extremely concerned that I will endure long term damage and additional problems for having to wait soo long. I have no doubt that there are people with more extreme conditions that have had the patience to wait, but I wanted to express how extremely concerning this is. Not only am I frustrated but my employers and family are running low on patience and now I feel my job may be on the one as I have not been able to prove myself or perform properly. Not only am I suffering, but the business I work for and with today's economy, I can be easily replaced. The waiting times for treatment don't only keep me suffering but my whole life is effected...
