"What's going on?"

About: Victoria Hospital

Anything else?

What has happened to the efficienrt well managed facility at Deal's Minor Injuries ? I took my teenager, at the request of school, with a finger injury sustained in a PE lesson. We spent the first 5-10 mins at the 'window' giving our personal details and explaining the injury. We were seated in the waiting area (nobody else present), a nurse arrives paper and pen in hand and asks all the same questions "oh this has to go onto the computer"?,obviously a different one than the first lady used!! we then go through to a bay and are asked for details to complete another form..."name...address...D.O.B....does anyone in the family have a social worker....sister's name......? at which I point I stopped the nurse and told her I didn't see the relevance of her questions (still nobody has looked at the injury!). My child had a swollen finger and had arrived in school uniform straight from school and was capable of explaining the injury. Two hours later! we arrived back from x-ray, my teenager went alone to see the results of the pic whilst I stayed with my aggravated autistic, epileptic adult child. My teenager was questioned "are you ok ? is everything ok at home, your mum seems cross?" How dare they! So because I dont want to be on "Big Brother's register" (for a swollen finger) I'm cross ?! and you dare to question my childs safety at home ? What on earth has happened to the sensible people with common sense that used to work in the NHS ? Don't get me wrong, I do get it, but please, have cause to be suspicious before you go interrogating everyone with the same spotlight! #madness #waste of time and money!!

Hello, We are very sorry to hear that you are unhappy about your recent visit to Deal Minor Injury Unit. We can appreciate that giving the same information several times must have been frustrating. When it comes to the safety of children our staff do have strict guidance to follow, and we're sure you appreciate that a child's safety is paramount. However, we appreciate this can appear accusatory and we apologise for any distress caused to you and your child. We'd like to look into what happened and why it happened and give you a full response. Could you please contact our Customer Care Team with your contact details in order for us to do this? Best wishes Customer Care Team Kent Community Health NHS Trust Tel: 0300 123 1807 Email kcht.cct@nhs.net Website: www.kentcht.nhs.uk
