"Inpatient Stay"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

Anything else?

My dad was recently a patient on the Cardiac Care Unit. The care that he received from all staff was brillliant. My dad has many health problems, one of which is Alzheimers and therefore his behaviour can be erratic and challenging. During previous hospital admissions (to other hospitals) my mum has had to stay with him and they have been put in a side room like prisoners. At Queens my dad was on the main ward, the nursing staff and indeed all staff spoke to him all the time and explained what they were doing, which meant that my mum could have a break from the hospital and knew that he was being well looked after. I can honestly say that everything, cleanliness, food and above all else the care that he received could not be faulted. Queens comes in for a lot of criticism and I am sure that most of the criticism is fair, but it appears that they are taking action to put things right and from 0our perspective we have no complaint. All I can say is well done.

Thank you so much for posting your comment. We have been working hard to improve our care for elderly patients - particularly those with dementia - and I am delighted that you have seen for yourself the impact this has had on patients. I will pass on your comments to the staff on our Coronary Care Unit. Flo Panel-Coates Director of Nursing
