"Really nothing to worry about"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I was referred to QEQM colposcopy clinic following 3 abnormal cervical smears. I had not expected the referral and was terrified as my all time biggest health fears were cancer and anything to do with 'down there'. So it looked as if my two worst fears might be jointly realised.

HOWEVER.. I cannot praise the staff of the clinic highly enough. Both receptionists were reassuring and clearly sympathetic to my obviously nervous appearance.

The two colposcopy nurses kept me chatting whilst the procedure was done and it was totally non-threatening.

Even seeing my innards on the monitor was not too gross although the comment 'say hello to your cervix' gave me some pause.

I have to return for review in March. Although I cannot say I welcome hospital visits, I can say that the staff in this speciality are second-to-none and will treat you with the utmost care.
