I used the North Middlesex maternity services on two occasions quite recently: the one was In December 2011 and the most recent one was August 2013. After having had two very positive experiences, I felt I needed to leave a positive review as it is often the case that mostly people that had negative experiences post. My two births were completely different and on both occasions staff have been respectful and I felt safe and happy with the care I received. My son's birth was not as straightforward and it was painful, hence I needed the epidural. The anaesthetist came immediately, he explained everything and was very careful and professional. The midwives were brilliant, from student to senior midwife and the doctors interfered immediately when my son's heart rate dropped on two occasions. I needed assisted delivery and the doctor was cheerful, calm and did her job very well. During my second birth, it was a more 'intimate' experience as I only needed one midwife to help with my daughter's delivery and she did her job really well. She allowed me to 'get on with it' as I felt more in control and she closely monitored both me and the baby to keep us safe. I am grateful to the community midwives, doctors, student midwives and everyone involved in the birth of my two children. I think they don't get as much recognition as they should and I have been so lucky to have chosen this hospital even though all my friends chose The Whittington even though it was further away. Finally, I would like to note that I noticed a marked improvement in the postnatal care between the time that I had my son and the time that I had my daughter as staff now are a lot more polite, friendly and professional. Also, as minor as it might seem, the food has improved vastly and the variety and quality of the meals is now excellent. Thank you to all the staff in the maternity ward and I hope you enjoy your new facilities. I am pleased I had both my children with you and I would definitely recommend you to every expectant mother.
