"DAFNE Course: Thank you very much"

About: The James Cook University Hospital / Diabetic medicine

(as the patient),

I recently went on the DAFNE course because I was pregnant and my HBa1C was 11. 2.

I managed within 2-3 weeks to bring it down to a respectable 6. 2 which I an well chuffed with.

Unfortunately this help didn't come quick enough as I miscarried my baby 1 week before starting the course.

The course lasted 5 days from 9am to 5pm which I wasn't thrilled about. but I can honestly say that without the DAFNE help my blood sugars would be appalling.

So thank you very much.

Thank you for your comments regarding the treatment you received from The James Cook University Hospital. I am very sorry to read about the loss of your baby.

I am pleased to learn your blood sugars improved, following your attendance to the DAFNE course and I very much appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback.

It may interest you to know the trust runs a ‘Thank You Award’ scheme where NHS colleagues, patients and relatives can nominate staff in recognition of their work. These are presented throughout the year for acts above the call of duty or where staff have shown exceptional kindness towards patients and their relatives. Please contact the chairman’s office on 01642 854151 or email deborah.jenkins@stees.nhs.uk. Alternatively, you may wish to nominate for both awards online at www.southtees.nhs.uk/about/awards/.

With best wishes
