"Son's admission as an emergency patient"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

Son taken to A & E with symptoms that were immediate recognised on on-duty doctor which resulted in a chain of action that saved his life.

He was admitted to Critical care unit and received first class service there and follow on open ward.

However, I do not think transition to open ward was well managed. Also, as a ward with students in training, my opinion is that more qualified staff is required to supervise trainees.

I apologise you and your son have not had a completely good patient experience.

We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers.

We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person. If you are willing I would appreciate it if I could ask the matron to contact you. Could you email me, using the reference “PAT OPIN: Son's admission as an emergency patient”, please?

Many thanks
