"Left with a broken finger for 20 weeks!"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

Anything else?

On 28 August fell and broke my little finger , went to A&E in Queens. After 8 hours waiting of doctors and nurses wondering around with a piece of paper, they put a plaster on my arm! On 4th September I had an appointment with the Fracture clinic. They took the plaster off, took another x-ray and said need to operate on the finger as soon as possible because is dis-formed. Two days later nobody contact me. I am left with a broken finger in no support. Is swollen and blue and very painfull!. When I tried to contact them they said I "You are in a waiting list" up to 20 weeks waiting! 20 weeks! What shall I do with my finger ? I asked the hospital and my doctors! No answer! Maybe this is a new olympic record for the NHS! Doctors and nurses who have trouble communicating with, who dont know what "Utricaria cold" is , who think is funny to leave in a freezing room while you are crying with pain and going red all over your body because of "Utricaria" and then leave you to deal with your broken limps by yourself! One word only for all of them! Distressful!

I am very sorry that you were unhappy with the care you received. We do have to treat people in order of clinical need, and unfortunately we know that means that some people will have to wait longer than they would like. If you still have concerns, please feel free to contact me through our PALS team on 01708 435454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk so that we can investigate further. Dr Mike Gill Medical Director
