"appointments"

About: Essex County Hospital

Anything else?

Sarted treatment for AMD at the end of last year and have been very pleased with the attention I have recieved at the ophthalmology dept. However whereas as at the begning the appointments for revists were fine with about three weeks notice and a follow up call from them by phone a week prior for comformation. In the last few of months all has changed. When no appointment was recieved I contacted the dept and was told that the delay was caused by an internal audit. This month I am told by Matron that a new computer system is being introduced and did not know if or when things may return to the previous excellent service. Am I being fobbed off or is there a real problem in the area of appointments. All this coinsides with the new reception desk !

I apologise you’ve not had a good patient experience. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. I will find out what has gone wrong. In the meantime could you email me, using the reference “Ophthalmology at RDEEB-Essex County Hospital at 06/09/2013 09:50:09 ”, please? I will then be able to let you know the outcome. Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
