"Gastroscopy Procedure: praise for the lovely staff"

About: The Royal Liverpool University Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I had to attend the hospital this morning for a Gastroscopy examination. I was very nervous as I had heard all sorts of horror stories about gagging, choking etc...

The first Nurse was Chris who did my Obs and explained thoroughly what was going to happen, really helped to put me at ease. The hanging around in the waiting room waiting for the procedure to start was the worst part of the whole experience.

I was then called through by Dr. Asimina Gaglia herself who was also very nice, she made you feel cared for not just another name on a list. The prepping took literally minutes and the nurses in the room where also professional and friendly explaining everything as they went about their business.

Dr Gaglia stated she was just going to put the sedative in my arm.. the next thing I know was being wheeled out to the recovery area and remember nothing at all about the procedure itself. The Nurses in the recovery area were obviously very busy with lots of patients to look after, But they did a splendid job, even made sure I had a nice cup of tea and a biscuit. After 20 minutes or so I was explained the findings of the procedure and my Husband was called through to take me home.

I have nothing but extreme praise and appreciation to the lovely staff of this extremely busy unit.

Thank you for your very kind comments about the gastroenterology department. We are pleased that you had such a good experience in the clinic and were so impressed by our hard working staff. We are sorry to hear that your experience of the waiting room was not up to the high standards of the rest of your experience. We will pass on your comments to our staff.
