"Visited Eye Clinic 3 on a Monday morning"

About: Royal Free Hospital

Anything else?

As usual the visit involved a lot of waiting around with patients being unable to find somewhere to sit. I waited about an hour to have eyes tested and drops put in and a long time after to see a doctor for pressure to be checked. The staff seem to get onOK but some have little regard for patients. You certainly know when staff are having an off day though. Patient wise. Doors are left open when eyes are being scanned or drops put in, so there is little privacy. During my visit a nurse was moving a patient in a wheel chair backwards and badly banged her arm on a door way. I didn't notice any first aid being administered, if fact other staff who all checked on the nurse who sat in one of the consulting rooms, holding her hurt arm didn't seem to know what to do. In the end she went home. I didn't see any health & safety check carried out either. It would be easy for a visually or mobility impaired patient to be injured in this way. There was also staff entered from another corridor with the door opening out and onto patients sitting in seats behind it. How long before someone gets hit and hurt if someone comes through in a hurry? I find other staff, the optician and low vision staff are excellent and polite at all times as is the diabetic screening service personnel.
