"Phlebotomy; concerns about cleanliness of chair..."

Anything else?

An extremely busy department it would appear but I always feel uncomfortable about using this service. Have never noticed the arm of the chair being wiped with antiseptic wipes between patients, nor any protective paper covering being placed under my forearm when blood is taken. Proceedure is carried out with my arm resting on the sticky/sweaty plastic covering of the arm of the chair, upon which thousands of other arms have been placed before. What if I have an infectious skin condition on my elbow/forearm? What if I did not have an infectious condition on my forearm, but did have areas of broken skin for some reason? There is never any reassuring smell of antiseptic wipes to indicate that the arm of the chairs are cleaned between patients.
