"Effect my GP has on me"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde

(as the patient),

My biggest gripe is that when I go to my doctors in Kinning Park area, the waiting room is usually crowded and I always try to get there early. The doctor has to walk a bit to come of their room, and comes out to meet other patients. When it comes to me the doctor just shouts my name from the door. I feel I am being judged on my past life and it makes me feel bad for the rest of the day and makes me not want to go to the doctor.

For years I didn’t go to the doctor but I am now because I am trying hard to turn my life around, change my life. I also feel that the doctor is keeping me from painkillers that might help my condition because the doctor feels that it might set me back. But surely I deserve to get medication that will help me?

This relationship with my GP puts me down and really affects my confidence in other ways. I’d just like to tell my GP not to judge people and treat everyone the same – remember people can change.

It’s so bad that I’ve started making appointments for the end of the day so my day isn’t ruined.

When I go to see the nurse, she’s nice, brand new, it’s like chalk and cheese.
