"Hospital treatment"

About: University Hospital (Coventry)

Anything else?

I was very unsatisfied with a lot of what went on in the hospital, most importantly, the lack of communication between staff and myself as a patient there, i was so upset at the fact of not being offered toiletries, and was not showered before i went home. I find it terrible that no one offered me a towel or soap , or a toothbrush, i was an emergency patient, so i never had anything like that with me... Also, i was not told what was wrong with me, i was supposed to have a x-ray done, and waited all day , it never happened, i saw the consultant around 3pm that following afternoon, and if i hadn't pushed the staff to see what was going on i would probably have still been in hospital none the wiser. I actually had to threaten to sign myself out. Even then it took another couple of hours to get anything done... Previous to being taken to the ward, i was in er for almost 3 hours, i had a morphine injection for my pain, but that made me very sick, and i feel the treatment there was not as good as it should have been, i was handed a sick bag, and forgotten about, they were to busy dealing with a girl that was being abusive to people... I still do not know why i was in pain, i had no diagnosis I was booked in for an Ex- Ray and never had one, i just got so fed up waiting in the end, all i wanted to do was go home.... I asked staff about the ex ray, and one said to me, if they hadn't heard anything by 1 o'clock, they would contact them again, but it never happened, it was about 2.30, when they eventually contacted them, but no one came to tell me what was going on, i overheard the phone conversation, this is why i know what time it was, but still no communication from staff... Now i am on beta blockers for my heart rate, i asked 3 times for them and all i was told was, they were waiting on them coming from the pharmacy, i went home at 5.45 pm without them. My blood pressure was low due to the fact that i needed my medication, and it was low every time it was taken, That to me is neglect, i am sure someone could have gone to the pharmacy to get them if they really wanted to? I am very unsatisfied with the treatment I incurred...... i have to wait for an outpatients appointment to have a scan done, why i couldn't have had it done whilst i was in there i have no answer for.....
