"Second time being hospitalised"

About: Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust / Inpatient mental health care

(as the patient),

During the end of July, I started using drugs as a way of self-medicating. Foolish, I know. By the beginning of August, I started to experience psychotic symptoms which led me to feel scared, and determined to kill myself.

Luckily for me, CRHTT came out to my home, and decided it was in my best interests to spend some time in hospital. They drove me to Wotton Lawn, and I was placed on Dean Ward.

All the staff there were absolutely fantastic. Not a single member of staff lacked empathy, or therapeutic communication. I found it very easy to trust them, and they were always willing to listen. My key nurse was brilliant, as were all of them. The structure was really beneficial (having an allocated staff member during each shift), and the OT department provided loads of off-ward activities.

All in all, I think the 18 or so days I spent there, really made a massive difference, and upon discharge I was feeling a hundred times better than on admission.
