About: Blyth Community Hospital

Anything else?

Minor injuries is supposedly open until 5pm which I confirmed by phoning ahead as to not waste unnecessary time with my very young son having to come with me. On arrival I was greeted by a receptionist who was busy chatting. When she asked if she could help I was told the lady treating minor injuries had in fact finished and doesn't see people past 4.30. This should be stated clearly when making enquires. As I phoned at 3.45pm, common sense would have told you to advise of such.

Dear Sir /Madam, Thank you for sharing this important feedback with us. I am very sorry that you were incorrectly advised by the receptionist which meant the service at Blyth was closed for the day when you arrived. I can only imagine how frustrating this was for you and your young son. The service is actually open until 5pm but accepts the last patient around 4pm to enable the nurse to see them through to completion of their care. I agree you should have been advised of this when you rang. There should also be signs up making walk in attendees aware of this. We will rectify this tomorrow. I have shared your experience with the relevant managers of this department and they have asked me to pass on their sincere apologies. They have also informed me that they will remind the team and nurse practitioners about the importance of being explicit about opening hours. We do understand that your wasted journey would have incurred travel costs and we would like to offer to refund these costs as a very small gesture of goodwill. If you would like to accept this offer, please contact a member of my team Jo Mackintosh on 07867351689 and she will make the necessary arrangements. Thanks again for taking the time to get in touch, it has been very helpful. Best Wishes Annie Annie Laverty - Director of Patient Experience
