"Shambles on Spruce ward Hinchingbrooke"

About: Hinchingbrooke Hospital

Anything else?

My Father was admitted to Spruce ward Huntingdon in August for 10days with bi lateral pneumonia, sepsis and AF...to be honest the stay he experienced was a whole shambles..He is a right sided stroke patient totally parylised. His food was served on his right side. He was not hydrated with iv fluids and became de hydrated. He was too poory to take responsibility for his own hydration despite futile attempts by the nurses to say you must drink more! He was left in soiled sheets for over an hour despite a nurse being aware of this.We cleaned the floor ourselves one day as it was dirty. He was discharged as a medically fit man despite the fact of his apparent poorliness observed by the relatives...his sodium levels were 150 and he should not have been discharged. The next day he was taken via ambulance after his discharge to Addenbrookes where he was found to present with bi lateral pneumonia, organ failure and de hydration., he is now dying but the care he is receiving could not be faulted...he is now hydrated and being looked after in an exceptional manner.....His discharge letter did not even have the correct name of the patient within the text.Too many questions to be answered and a heartbroken family. My Father was not discharged as terminal, he was discharged as a medically fit man...this should never happen again to another family!
