About: Leighton Hospital

Anything else?

I had my gallbladder removed on the 21/05/13 as a daycase, unfortunately I did not recover well and after a few weeks my GP sent me for an ultrasound, during this a large cyst was discovered on one of my ovaries, leading to a referral to a consultant who recommended I have a hysterectomy. he requested a CT scan which I had on the 23/06, on the 24/06 the nurse phoned me to say that something had been found on my kidney and adrenal gland, and I needed to have a further CT scan and ultrasound followed by an MRI scan, I was terrified by the speed that all this happened and because of family history(Dad , died from kidney cancer) I spent two weeks falling to pieces, during all of this, I could not have asked for more understanding and support than I got from all departments I dealt with , receptionists, secretaries, all staff in X-ray department, nurses, etc, everyone I met or spoke to on the phone was so kind.. Thankfully all was ok with my kidney, and I had my hysterectomy on the 19/08/13, again, the care given to me on ward 12 was fantastic. Thank you all very much .

We are extremely pleased that you received such supportive care from all departments at such a stressful time for you. Your comments have been forwarded to the staff on Ward 12. We do appreciate patients informing us of how they found the care and support whilst with us. Once again many thanks for taking the time and trouble to do this and we wish you well with your recovery. Sandra Glover Modern Matron Surgery & Cancer Divsion
