"Hospital Grounds"

About: Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead)

Anything else?

I'm a voluntary car driver and must say what a pleasant experience it usually is to take a patient to QVH. Buildings and facilities give a well-kept impression. But today I emphasize the quality of the grounds and gardens which, although not part of patient treatment, do convey a 'well cared for' ethic and so make their contribution. I was greatly struck today by the lovely grassed area outside the 'Hurricane' Coffee Bar. Trees had been planted along with beautiful beds of flowering bedding plants - all with bench seats and tables - what peaceful paradise. Many congratulations to whoever is responsible - what a contrast to most NHS Hospital grounds! Well done!

Dear Mr Moore,

Thank you for your very complimentary words regarding our hospital grounds. Our small team of groundsmen, John and Kevin, work very hard throughout the year to create and maintain the gardens. The area outside the Hurricane Cafe was completed in July 2012 and is an Olympic themed garden, which was funded by the League of Friends. As well as providing a seating area, colour and interest, this well used area has three cherry trees, which provides some much needed shade during the good weather. Please continue to enjoy our grounds on your visits.
