"orthroscopy day ward,orthopaedics,broadgreen hosp..."

About: The Royal Liverpool University Hospital

Anything else?

i was at this ward ,after having a knee orthroscopy, and cleaning and shaving of cartilage miniscus,9th august 2013,,whilst the operation, itself, was fine,on return to the day ward, for recovery, and being diabetic,i was on this day ward from 10 am,after operation(at hosp from 7.30 am),and i was there till 5pm,till the anaesthetic had worn off,as previously stated,i am diabetic,in that time,i was only offered, two pieces of toast, and one corn beef sandwich, when i complained about this lack of food, important to prevent diabetic hypos,i was told that it is hospital policy, not to provide hot food,on day wards,,the staff when they were there, were there, were attentive(although i did accidentally press the emergency button, and there was no response,(had to rely on one of other patients to turn off for me,as unable to move),after my wife had collected me at 5.30pm,and i arrived home by taxi,at 5.45pm,i needed to go to toilet,10 mins later,i had had a diabetic hypo, and had fallen off my crutches, and woke up(luckily),on bathroom floor,on same day as operation,,y bathroom is quite small,so woke up with my operated knee,in bent position,l luckily, more by luck, dont think there was any further damage done(will not know properly, till i return to orthopaedic clinic,at end of september, but if this policy,of no hot food,on day wards, had not been in place, this would not have occurred
