"Ward M2 at Clatterbridge Hospital"

About: Clatterbridge Hospital

Anything else?

I was referred by my GP to orthopaedic outpatients and my experience here was great. I was offered an appointment within weeks, seen very promptly, had procedure explained and pre op all done within an hour and a half. I had the date for my op within 12 weeks of being referred so well within the target time. I was admitted for my elective procedure at 7 am and was the lucky one to be first on the list. The consultant, anaesthetist and theatre staff were all very reassuring and I felt very safe. I was back on the ward by 10.30 and immediately cared for by the nursing staff and throughout the day, was never short of a cup of tea, a meal, pain killers and just generally making sure I had all I needed. The food was good. Remember this is a hospital and not a hotel, but I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch and tea despite the op. At night time, the lights were lowered and whilst I shared the bay with three other patients, I had a good night's sleep. Of course there were people getting up and conversations were taking place throughout the night; I would have been more concerned if they weren't. The next day, breakfast came round and more tea and fresh water! Offered a bathroom to wash in and taken there in a chair for greater privacy. The physio came round to help me get back on my feet and whilst I wasn't given crutches, which I thought was a bit odd at first, a couple of days down the line, I can see why and I am managing well without.. Another visit from the consultant, more food, got my medications to take home and my sick note and home for tea. I thought the whole experience was marvellous. As a patient, I felt at the centre of of it. The staff were thoughtful and caring from the man who brought the tea and water round right through to the consultant. You are all a credit to the Trust and to the NHS. Thank you all.
