About: Royal Oldham Hospital

Anything else?

My father was asked to attend Oldham Hospital on the 22nd August 2013. This was the first time any member of our family has visited this hospital (we have attended rochdale infirmary and fairfield). The Royal Oldham is a building site, Ok work has to be done but why not use the other hospitals in the area while this is completed? My father was asked to attend the accute medical dept with an change in an ecg report. This dept received him well and he was happy with the treatment, apart from seeing a member of staff dropping a new pillowcase on the floor and then proceeding to put this on the bed. But he was then transfered to the coronary care dept. to await tests. He only spent one night there. He said it was bedlam. This should be a stress free enviroment, but several patients were shouting out all night and one patient was sleeping on the floor. The bathroom and toilet facilities were filthy , and the cleaner cleaned the rail around each bed and then flick the duster (full of dust) all over the floor. I would hope that this is not normal or actions should be taken to improve patient care. Cleanliness should be parimount and we expected better from one of our local hospitals. It would be a good idea to ask patients to fill in a feedback form on leaving the hospital.
