"Becoming a paramedic"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

(as other),

Hi, I am 24 years old and live in Weston-s-mare. I have recently started on my path to become a paramedic. I am starting college in September 2013 to gain the entry requirement's to get a place on a paramedic science course held at UWE in 2014.

I would like to know if there is any possibility of volunteering for the ambulance service trust in my local town, but I am unaware of how to do this correctly and successfully. I understand that the ambulance services are very busy and would like to offer my help and gain vital knowledge and hands on experience in the process.

Hi Jinx

Thank you for getting in touch!

We do run a number of First Responder Schemes across Somerset. These are groups of volunteers who provide invaluable support to our service.

If you would like to know more about these schemes you can visit our website, www.swast.nhs.uk, or email responder@swast.nhs.uk.

Good Luck with your college course!

Sara
