Anything else?
I was diagnosed with a 12cm ovarian cyst and advised to have a full hysterectomy and both ovaries removed. I had the pre-op assessment and was given excellent advice on how to recover as quickly as possible post op. My surgical team were brilliant and staff on Bramshaw ward were kindness personified; nothing was too much trouble Everyone was so positive, I felt safe and confident. The entire team conducted themselves like a family unit and performed with amazing efficiency. The timing of the op fell bang in the middle of our annual family camp, where people come from all over the UK. At pre-op assessment I had asked if it would be possible to get back to camping after the op. I was advised, "not in a tent, but if you have a proper bed and bathroom e.g. in a caravan, and you can ensure proper wound care, then why not?" In fact I left camp at 1pm Sunday and returned 6pm Wednesday, we hired a caravan for the second week. When campers who arrived after my return asked, "have you been here for the entire two weeks?' I was able to say, "Yes, apart from popping home in the middle to have a hysterectomy..." My total number of complete days missed from my holiday was 2. I'm now nearly 3 weeks post op and feel virtually back to normal. I have minimal scaring, no pain and don't even feel tired. It's not even as if this was keyhole surgery - I had the full op. I have followed every instruction I was given to the letter and have nothing but praise for the amazing team who pulled this off. Thank you so much to all concerned.
"No one can believe my operation and recovery"
