What could be improved

I visited Doncaster Royal Infirmary on the 9th October for an isotope bone scan in respect of secondary cancer in my spine. Because of pain in my back I had difficulty in lying flat upon the scanning bed and when I tried to get up again I was in considerable pain. I asked the radiographers for assistance to help me get off the bed but they refused to help and told me to swing my legs off the bed and pull myself up. I twisted my back in the process and this resulted in increased pain for several days afterwards. All I required was the minimum of assistance just to help me up from the bed but it was not forthcoming. This is my second bone scan and the same thing occurred during the first scan. I am told that it is not official policy to refuse help so I am wondering if it is some sort of unofficial policy on the part of the radiographers. Or is it just me that is experiencing these problems. I take no pleasure in writing this report but I feel that other patients have a right to be able to read it and form their own opinions especially if they are due to attend for a bone scan and are in pain.
