"Was supposed to be just day surgery ..."

About: Bassetlaw Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Was supposed to be just day surgery but it turned out to be a 4 day stay. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The wards were clean and regularly cleaned during the day. I felt as if I was perfectly safe and being well looked after. The day surgery bed at the initial stages was more like a BUPA hospital than NHS, although Ward 7 (I think) was attractive.

The food when I eventually started eating was excellent as were the choices.

What could be improved

The day surgery forgot to ring my husband to tell him I was staying in and when he did ring himself he was told the day surgery unit had closed, which put him in a panic. The communication could have been better on this.

Meals should be classed as large medium and small. Even medium was too big for me and meant some food was wasted.

Car parking - a nightmare, not enough spaces.

I was near the nurses station and boy do they chatter during the night! Although I must admit it was interesting.
