"Skylark Ward short stay"

About: Kettering General Hospital

Anything else?

Our two-year-old son, Daniel, was admitted in July with infection complications to chicken pox. The staff could not do more for us. A bed was available for mum to stay in his room and the care was first class, attentive, friendly and efficient. He was still infectious from the chicken pox, and so had to stay in his room, but the play team found plenty of toys to keep him occupied, even a paddling pool in his room! They also found him his favourite Fireman Sam DVDs and he was visited by a handler with a friendly dog, which he loved. He arrived at the hospital having had temperatures close to 40 and was very unwell. After a few days of intravenous antibiotics and it was time to go home he was clearly much better and recovered quickly at home. Thanks all, you were great!

We are very grateful for such positive feedback on the NHS Choices website. In our new Skylark Ward, we try and give the best possible care to all of our patients and the playteam are an integral part of this care. I am pleased that Daniel had a good experience and is now completely well. Christine Brandon-Cox Matron for the Neonatal Unit and Childrens Services
