"I have not had an alcoholic drink in 242 days"

About: Addiction services (community) / Oxford Corner, Specialist Alcohol Team

(as the patient),

My therapist was not judgmental in anyway. He would reason with me a suggest ways to cut down. Eventually I have given up. Not saying I will never have another drink, but I am almost frightened to just in case I cannot stop.

I have not had an alcoholic drink since 1st December 2012 = 242 days.

I do think, but only think, about having a drink every day but how let down I would feel as I am not sure I could only have one drink.

I have a fridge in my garage full of wine, I look but don't touch. Maybe one day but I must be much more healthy.

Thank you for posting your 'story' on Patient Opinion. And very well done for remaining abstinent for 242 days. It is always good to know how people are doing and also how we are helping in that process. Knowing that you were able to work with 'your therapist' and not feel 'judged' is also encouraging. Thank You again and best wishes for the future.
