"cardiac rehabilitation team based at cantley doncater"

About: Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

After a long time of being unwell, last Oct I was finally diagnosed with Angina...I was refered to Jo Partington, and to be fair my conception of Angina was very much the same as everyone elses I know, I was scared I was shocked and frightened. After an hour appt with Jo my life changed completely, I would actually say she saved me, ( the whole team have to be honest). it wasnt an easy process and yes it was going to take alot of work from me, but with Jo's help I decided I could do this, I began the angina plan, amazining if your in a position to be able to give it a try, I know as I said angina the word, is scary but once its explained properly it isnt as frightening. there are alot of myths that circulate around the word. Anyway, I began slowly walking, every day I never missed, in the beginning I thought I dont think its going to work for me, but with medication and devotion I went from not being able to climb my stairs without pain to walking 2 miles a day in 3 months, I had done so well and all the time Jo or anyone in the eam tht answered my calls helped me to achieve this, they gave me knowledge and knowledge is power, that power changed my life. in the end I had 2 stents fitted by choice as I knew I might be even better with them, after a months recovery I then went on to meet Anne and Dawn the cardiac pyhsio's, and again, these ladies changed my life even more, they filled me full of information, they've supported me 100% if my life, moving forward learning about how my body works how to keep it well and how to excercise properly and most importantly not have any pain. I really feel like a different person now. If my life was a film, these guys would win an oscar. I just want to say a massive thankyou to all the team.....THANKYOU GUYS. x

Dear Sarah

Thank you for taking the time to praise our cardiac team. I know they offer an excellent service with good outcomes for patients but your story is such a fabulous one.

This is a brilliant example of team working – the patient working in collaboration with the cardiac team to achieve great improvements to their health and be able to lead a much more fulfilling life. I congratulate you on all that you have achieved and am delighted that the outcomes are so positive.

Thank you again for taking the time to post your message which I will pass on to the team.

I wish you well for the future.

Many thanks.

Kind regards.

Jill
