I attended A+E with chest pain. I was assessed rapidly by a junior doctor. I had an ECG, blood tests and a Chest X-ray within half an hour, and was reviewed by a consultant. I had an echocardiogram within 4 hours. Although all tests were reassuring, in view of a strong family history of heart disease I was referred for a coronary angiogram within 12 hours. The staff who treated me were unfailingly kind and sympathetic. The hospital was clean and the bed was comfortable! No one asks if you are paying by Insurance Policy or Mastercard - hurrah for the NHS!
